There's a high possibility I'm going to relocate to Richmond for my job. My main concern is having to sell my current house and buying another one with these high prices and interest rate. Anyway, I took a road trip down there this past weekend and I'm seeing a ton of new constructions and communities being built right outside of Richmond city. I drove to downtown main street and strangely enough it was kinda dead which was unexpected. I didn't spend nearly as much time as I wanted to feel out the area but I'm wonder what you guys have to say about Richmond and the surrounding areas.

I've actually been to Richmond about 10 times in 25 years here in Virginia (normally just go around the outside of the city via I-295). The times I went, it seemed to be a quiet city. I live too far away to actually see any of the news coming out of the capital, but evidently nothing major has happened there or it would be blasted all over the state. I hear it can be a bit racist, but really what place is not in the US?

Good luck on your move.

We go there about once a year. I like it. Small city feel. I’m approaching it from a family man perspective though. Lots of stuff to do for the kids, nice suburbs. Short Pump mall is great. Diverse. :ehh:

Stay away from the Southside don’t know much about Richmond I’m a 757 native myself but everytime I hear about Richmond the Southside gets a bad rep.

Hated it everytime I visited or drove thru. The home of the confederacy. Only place cops ever got me off a block on horseback. Got pulled over for having NY plates on a BMW. Cop didn’t even hide the fact that’s why he was fukking with me.

Was trying to look at homes in Short Pump but way to expensive. There's some nice homes at Chesterfield tho.

They cleaned up the city alot, hella restaurants around VCU

Chesterfield would be a good move. Southside kinda bled over to chesterfield so I'd go farther into the county to avoid the crime

Same for Henrico
