Talking about only criminal justice reform "helping blacks" just shows how weak our position is

Every other demographic isn't focused on merely easing up on criminal prosecutions, but getting set-asides and benefits.

All that any political candidate can ever give the black community is talk about keeping people out of jail

Is that really the height of whats important to us? Or better...what they think of us?

People are talking about taxes, special grants in trade agreements, special land rights, etc... and all politicians can grant us is the chance to go to prison less...

Theres no real platform in black america...and I know these politicians know it.

I hear ya. We need to demand reparations and a plan to bring economic development in Black neighborhoods with Black owners. I do think we need to talk about the criminal justice system as well though. It doesn't have to be one or the other

yeah...but it strikes me as a little...defeatist that the "most important" issue to black people is...keeping people out of jail.

its like damn we can shift certain drug policies...but is prison the height of what we, as a demographic, have to demand from politicians?

I agree we need to demand much more. Unfortunately a lot of us are not educated on how politics work. Politicians are only going to do what they have to. Because we don't demand more we end up getting crumbs off the table.

Might this perhaps be because they aren't faring as bad as "we" do with the outcomes of criminal prosecutions?
I'm not saying its not important...but think about it. The black community is literally only saying, hey can you let some people out of jail?

its like thats the height of our entire argument.
