About 17 years ago, mother would wake up every Saturday morning, do laundry, make breakfast with no hog and clean the house. Of course, I was forced to help otherwise I couldn't play outside . Anyways, she would burn her Black cherry incense and play videos while cleaning: Marvin Gaye, Tupac, The Temptations, MJ, DMX, Eve, J.Lo and the list goes on. I think the show was videolink on BET but anyways they played Tank's "Slowly". I thought he was a halfass D'Angelo with the forced sex appeal he was trying to sell . Till this very day, I will sing the hell out of Slowly ( only if it plays on my Pandora or tv and yes, I'm a contralto)

I'll say "maybe I deserve" is probably the only Tank song I ever got into. I was never a fan and I believe his fan base is mostly black women.

From his era, I was more into Jaheim, Tyrese, and Ginuwine. That reminds me, I need to create a thread for my best Jaheim song.
