Because in a country where the rule of law is all that we have, formal documentation, while ceremonial and symbolic, goes a long way towards having it stand as a testament to reflect on and draw inspiration for the future of the country.

...and i'm essentially a nihilist mind you.
This doesn't answer the question. How specifically is the lack of a formal documented apology preventing us from being autonomous? What material changes will happen for black people once we get the apology?

And you are the opposite of a nihilist. You tend to draw an immense amount of significance from the insignificant

Formal acknowledgement matters. Period.

The same way court cases demand corporations to issue apologies and public retractions, the US Government should formally apologize for their wrongs.

Inspiration for those who can address psychological shortcomings.

Inspiration is meaningless. We need the programs currently in place that are discriminatory and oppressive against us to be abolished. That u can't explain how an apology would help with any kind of specificity = you're full of shyt and you know it. Peace

My point was it wasn't all them dudes that have rich daddies or started from something like Tariq said but I think this is an issue where everybody going to have their views and not budge one bit. Every white dude don't have it easier or have that access and we have to stop thinking like that only because to me that leads to an already defeated mentality.

Acknowledging the truth isn't a defeatist mentality. The black person on the show brought up Richard Branson and Marc Cuban. To my knowledge neither of them came from money, but because they were white, they could gain access to capital from banks that a black person could not simply because of the color of his skin. So if a black entrepreneur has the exact same idea as a white entrepreneur, the white entrepreneur is more likely to be successful simply because there are policies in place to make attractive loans for whites and unattractive loans for blacks. And it wasn't just private banks who had those policies. The federal govenrment had laws on the books that ensured blacks didn't have access to the same capital as cacs.

shyt if that's going on I guess we will have to find ways around that but I just don't like how it will have dudes already worth the see what had happened was esp from a dude like Tariq that's out here still making moves. It kinda makes you look like huh.

We're definitely going to have to find our way around it. Which is why I've said on numerous occasions black people need to learn how to look out for self because white people simply hate you. I know it's something nikkas refuse to accept, but the sooner you realize who your enemy is, the sooner you'll stop trying to be accepted by him.

Here's two easy ways blacks can do for themselves economically:

1. Short Term - Every black person should have their money in a black run and operated bank. Why? Because a black underwriter is more likely to give you a loan to start/expand your business than a white underwriter will. Black banks are closing fast in the US because although blacks have a trillion dollar economy, the majority of our money (mortgages, investments, stocks, funds, checking/savings accounts) are in white banks.

2. Long Term - Black people need to setup an economic partnership with various African countries. Outside of Oprah, all of the black billionaires are on the African continent. Africa has the majority of the worlds natural resources. So we need to create an African financial instrument that blacks in the diaspora can invest into, which will give us access to capital in Nigeria for example, since cacs in the US are not going to play fair.

I know he said its some we can do it individually but honestly how do most people do it anyway. Individually with obviously a few others but its not no whole race project type thing like we try to promote alot on here or even him. I really believe in doing things on your own then getting with those that are like minded when y'all made it or even before then if y'all cross paths. That's how I look at things not we can be held back unless people hold their self back.

The idea of doing things by ourself will keep us on the defensive. Collectively black people need to move as a unit. There's powers in numbers. We have a trillion dollar economy. If black people in the US got in the same page and operated as a group, we could do unimaginable things.

That's why you hear some white people (them st0rmfr0nt types) sounding just like some on here blaming somebody else for why they can't make moves and they have the "white" advantage. That's why I mainly look at shyt as excuses but its not that simple but its also easier than before IMO to do productive things and if people disagree that's cool too.

Cacs will blame us for any and everything, so that doesn't bother me. What does bother me is when people like us, who sees there's a problem do nothing. As I've said many times on here, every black man that feels there's a problem with the treatment of black people in this country should take on a leadership position and organize in their community to fix the problem. One of the biggest issues I've seen, is how absolutely difficult it is to find so called conscious black men who actually want to the necessary work needed to advance as a race. I've had dudes on here PM me about joining various black power organizations. I do the reasearch and find a local chapter in their neighborhood and even give them the name/number of the president. 6 months later I ask them dudes how things is going and they give every excuse in the world as to why they couldn't make a single meeting.
