Then why didn't he tell us vote Trump, when it was all on the line?

Some of these black republicans wear it on their sleeves. Others take more covert tactics. If you want to disrupt black support for democrats but not get labeled as a black republican you criticize the democrats and don't encourage them to vote republican. Just as long as they aren't voting for the democrats mission accomplished.

Example: Kanye West running for president. The goal was to siphon black votes from the democrats. Instead of telling blacks to vote for Trump they simply handed them an alternative to vote for that would in the end help Trump. The plan failed but it was still the goal.

If Tariq comes out and says to outright vote for Trump his own supporters might rebel. If he says don't vote he weakens the democrats. it's like voter ID laws. They can't outright say they don't want minorities voting so they push for IDs because they suspect some minorities won't have them.
