She was selling millions of albums more than kanye when that happened so how would it helpIf you don't think Kanye's stunt didn't increase her fanbase exponentially you're playing yourself.

it only hurt kanye if anythingBecause she was like everyone other country artist that was stuck in that mold and could not get bigger endorsements because the general public did not care. There was a period of time where every magazine cover with her on it undersold. Without that Kanye moment, Taylor Swift is Kacey Musgraves. It's the same reason Shania Twain (her blueprint) did what she did. She wanted to be bigger. Taylor Swift could not tour big venues outside the US until she went pop and super mainstream. At the time Kanye did that shyt Beyonce was selling 3x as much as Swift worldwide. They weren't in the same atmosphere (only the US, the country music stronghold). Kanye made her America's sweetheart and she took off from there. Her winning album of the year at the 2010 Grammys and validating her as a legitimate artist is a direct result of Kanye. The very next year one of the Grammy voters admitted that Kanye had the best album of the year but that he wouldn't vote for him because he was afraid he would win and he personally disliked him. Kanye did not make her, but she is not walking in the realm of the Jays and Beyonces without him. Think about all those country music artists who sell millions, do people give them the Samsung deal or Jay Z and Rihanna? Demographics want different things, Ye put her in an entirely new atmosphere. She was selling millions of albums more than kanye when that happened so how would it helpit only hurt kanye if anything
I agree with a lot of this. Most of it actually. But I dont think Kanye was the reason for all that, he was more of a catalyst. There has been a push to legitimize her that exists independently of that. I do think it accounts for her trying so hard to be "down" though. Kanye has a wide audience, and she wants that fukking audience LOLBecause she was like everyone other country artist that was stuck in that mold and could not get bigger endorsements because the general public did not care. Taylor Swift gains popularity points and promotes herself.
Apple gets popularity points for feeding the indie artists that they planned to feed anyway. They made their "generosity" public with Taylor Swift as their figurehead. They also promote their streaming service, attract more indie artists to rip off, and shyt on Tidal and Spotify at the same time.
Chess not checkers.

IMO, the reason she is Beyonce and Jay-Z level, is because her PR team is Beyonce and Jay-Z level
Yeah, that's what I meant. He's the catalyst. I did not want to overstate it. I'm pretty sure that her father's investment banker connections that allowed her to move to Nashville to pursue a career at 14, his 100,000 initial investment in an independent label, and that label having music industry veterans and seeing how profitable she could be are bigger factors. Kanye was just the spark. But she definitely is in search for legitimacy and the media is playing along. She's done sit down interviews with Grammy voters, Slate, etc. I see this chick everywhere that I get my politic news and that's how I know. It's actually really fukking annoying.I agree with a lot of this. Most of it actually. But I dont think Kanye was the reason for all that, he was more of a catalyst.
