Me & my wife have friends & family that are teachers. Her sister taught algebra for seven years and as soon as she got an offer outside of the city at an academy, she ran. Even took a slight paycut to get out. I feel for them. If they respond with paperwork and disciplinary actions, the parents are at the school claiming their child is being targeted and that, "He/She didn't do nothing!" If they respond emotionally, they're unstable & dangerous. If they phone it in, they're setting their children up for failure. And these same idiots will bemoan teachers running from public & inner city schools to private & suburban institutions.
The school system will sanction knuckleheads to appease the parents, and then wonder why they can't find enough qualified bodies to teach in their classrooms.
Kudos to the teachers who perservere and find ways to reach the few that actually want to learn & prepare for life as an adult. The majority of them aren't worth the time or effort, and the sad thing is, it's not their fault. It starts at home, but if the parents don't care about their education, the child sure as hell won't. Matilda was a movie.
