What are the childrens test scores and literacy rate before I shed a tear:respect:
If they kids started school and couldn't already read, that's a parental failure......pre school even........I personally taught and worked with my children before any institution and still heavily dip into school work with them even though they dont need me to currently. Bedtime stories breh.......they don't want me reading them stories no more though...... :mjcry:

So if you were a teacher and realized a child couldnt read,You would just say "Well, parents messed up,let me get back to my TikTok video:francis:"

Thats whats going on in these classrooms accross America. People like you giving these teachers a pass for the failure of students. Some of these teachers have more time with these kids then parents do. And as a teacher they are supposed to be an expert at teaching. Its long overdue for an overhaul.:respect:

You have one presidential candidate openly saying he wants to dismantle the department of education and let these good ol boy red states have their way and be the final arbiter on anything education in the states and you still have idiotic brothers on here supporting the man when such a decision will directly hurt black people and students. The reason the conservatives hate education and these agencies so much because it opposes their white supremacist idea or agenda of only white people being able to succeed and get ahead in education, they want it back in the 50s where they can legally segregate and violate civil rights

None of this has anything to do with why kids are failing in school. If you want to fight for kids to learn what a "bottom" and a "top" is in school, fine. But your not about to sit here and pretend the Democrats have it figured out when it comes to education. Its really just one big ponzi scheme,so you can count on Trump not getting rid of it. It might sound good to his hillbilly base, But his rich friends wont want to stop that money train. Kamala has no plan,Trump has no plan that will actually fix these schools. They simply dont understand what it takes. More governement less government could both work if you had the main ingredient of competence:respect:

At that point you gotta move. Why would you continue to raise a family there? The infrastructure is crumbling in front of you.

Crazy shyt man. I look at the world differently now that I have a son. Terrible for the community up their. I'm about 25 miles south.

A kid not being able to read past a certain grade falls squarely on the parents. I don't know if you realize how underpaid and understaffed the schools generally are and you can easily understand how a teacher often doesn't have the time to invest in individual students. Regardless of how it seems they gotta march to the beat of the administration or else, and you want them to go against the grain and risk their livelihoods trying to save people's children that don't pay enough attention to their own kids to see that they can't read breh.......we all have our expectations, but let's be reality......they don't pay them to save them all breh.......they can barely save the ones that want to be there........I do expect a parent to be directly responsible for their child's first major hurdles no exceptions.........

The “in class virtual teachers” part of the clip threw me off so I had to look it up :dahell:

Superintendent Norma Fernandez said the district will use remote teachers through an online program called Edmentum to help fill the gap in the city’s high schools. She said a substitute teacher or a paraprofessional will be in the classroom while a remote teacher teaches the students live.

“We are trying to be a little more creative in how we do in-person but incorporate virtual when necessary,” Fernandez said. “These are individuals who are New Jersey-certified teachers … Let’s say we have to do a specialized AP (advanced placement) course, we have students who can really benefit but they might not have a full schedule or there may be 10 students at one school and five at another. They can both take classes at the same time from this remote teacher (at their school).”

:patrice: In theory, sounds ok. But feels like it places a greater onus on the kids to be locked in.

We gotta start generating a better pool of full time teachers. I could see if it was some super obscure high level classes that they need to use this for. But there should be enough people available that are able to teach a quality (normal) AP course.

Gotta up the pay, benefits, resources. And do something about discipline/accountability in schools to attract more quality individuals to the field.

Disagree. You are taking emphasis off the parents. Also, too many teachers have large class sizes where they can't give students individual attention. In addition, many school systems got rid of teacher aides.

So America doesnt have enough money for teachers aides:comeon:? With all this tech they cant have teacher coaches? Someone watching the classroom and students on camera remotely,as the teacher teaches?

"Andre,Michelle and Rodrigo are falling asleep,ENGAGE ENGAGE!"

"Becky is texting on her phone, shes being slick but check her when you get a moment!"

If a student is struggling to read something, the teacher coach can get into his/her headset and help them sound it out. This is what the kids of today know from playing Call Of Duty. You named problems that teachers have and resources they lack. But chose to blame parents as if this country doesnt have resources to fix those problems. The old methods dont work anymore,we need a complete overhaul. If parents could im assuming they would. If they cant, those who get paid to should do it. Or they should stop being paid and find new careers:respect:

As long yall keep blaming parents, ain’t nothing gon change. These parents are not gonna change their behavior much…it would be great but it’s highly unlikely to change parents just like yall can’t get y’all’s gfs to submit. The institution/schools have a lot of influence and can change, teach, and influence kids

:what: parents are the FIRST humans a kid is supposed to show respect to and learn discipline from.

If the parents fukking suck, those kids are gonna come to school on bullshyt and you expect an underpaid adult who already has their hands tied behind their back in terms of how they're allowed to discipline children, to handle a class of 25+ wild kids?

Have you completely forgotten your own childhood and how many kids simply didn't give a fukk about school or the teacher's authority?

It's not a teachers job to raise someone else's kids, the way y'all just push accountability onto other people is disgusting, we can't carry other people's responsibilities just because they're dumb and fukked up by having kids they can't properly raise.

The kids that perform the best have the highest parental involvement and are the most prepared BEFORE they start school.

Good teaching is obviously important but teachers don't matter if the parents aren't doing their job. School admins can't say that because they don't want to lose enrollment (less kids = less $$$ = more crappy charter schools etc).
