Teachers, how much do you like your job?

I am thinking about getting out of the active duty military, joining the reserves, and settling down somewhere down south to teach high school. I have a BS in Poli Sci, and I would to get a grad degree in history, poli sci, or international relations before I make the transition in 2015. Educators, tell me all you can about your job. I wanna know the good and the bad, and will also appreciate any advice you may have.

Most teachers I know actually enjoy or love their jobs

Its the money that stops people from doing it.

My wife wants to be a teacher and she would be perfect fit for it.

But she has a job working in insurance making 60k and she would have to take a pay cut to it.

That's one of the things bothering me as well. I make about the same, and I know I'll be taking a major pay cut. Told my wife that she has two years to get her shyt together, in case I do get out of the military and she has to bring a lot more to the table financially.

yeah, we don't make that much....but we don't work that much either

you need to have patience, but for the most part kids give you just as much respect as you show them. Teachers who be on that all day typically get fukked with.
