*He lived there about 10 years ago, coming back its different. The train lines have grown significantly. At least one new train line would have been built every year since he left.

*Their equivalent of Google maps syncs well enough to know which train station you are at.

*there's facial recognition at the train station. You can either tap a card or let it scan your face. It will try to recognize your face anyway.

*Most vehicles are electric, same with their busses. Gas cars are more expensive than EVs now.

*they have robo taxis which are allegedly being sabotaged by local taxi drivers(they're placing fake orders to fukk with the wait times for the robo taxis)

*Tencent is now being designated as a military company by the American govt(lol).

*fully autonomous street cleaning robots, police robots on wheel recording and reporting. There are some wheeling around with Public safety announcements.

*there's drone delivery. You order food, drink drops food in vending machine thing.

*scooters are all electric with dedicated scooter lanes but people just do whatever.

*Cameras are everywhere so people don't care about locking up their scooters. Privacy basically only exists in your home or a toilet.

*facial recognition is being used all the time. Some people are wearing masks so they can't be recognized.

*people are generally more careless with their stuff because they don't fear their shyt getting stolen anymore. Man walked into an unlocked car store.

*most places won't even take cash facial recognition and apps are being used for payments.

*Beijing(the CAPITAL) is actually less advanced by comparison.

*huge variety in car brands. Competition makes foreign brands cost less.

*there are public and private charging networks.

*some have fast charging. There's a station that swaps the battery in 3 min.

*looked at some Huawei tech, they've essentially become apple(completely independent eco system)

*hypercapitalist with tons of shopping and lots of influencers trying to make content.

*Biking infrastructure is being improved but still not at European level yet.
