I personally think the punchline era was incredible, back when u were actually wowed by a line or 2 in a verse that made u want to hear more from the artist

Metaphors and wordplay are dope too tho

The best ones can have the same effect as punchlines

Intricate rhyme schemes are nice but after awhile got played the fukk out when nikkaz started relying on multisyllables to cover up the fact they aint sayin shyt

i think u can have a complex rhyme scheme " and be saying shyt" at the same time check out makaveli eminem and nas.
