A Birmingham teen was shot to death Friday night during an argument that started when police say another man knocked a video game controller out of the victim's hand.

Police this morning identified the victim as 18-year-old Bobby Baker. The 21-year-old shooter, the victim's cousin, is in custody.

West Precinct officers were dispatched about 11:45 p.m. to a house in 3500 block of 45th Street S.W. When they arrived, they found Baker lying on the floor in the upstairs hallway suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest, said Birmingham police Lt. Sean Edwards.

Baker was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Edwards said Baker and the suspect, whose name hasn't been released, got into a fight after the suspect walked into Baker's bedroom and knocked a video game controller out of the victim's hand. At that time, both men began to wrestle with each other and at some point a gun was removed from the suspect's waist.

The two then began to fight over the gun, and it discharged, hitting Baker in the chest.

The suspect is in the Birmingham City Jail on a 48-hour hold.

The investigation is ongoing.
