If they cut the charge cable from 9 Tesla super chargers, they definitely didnt get "A couple hundred dollars worth of copper". Tesla charge cables are short, and a lot of the weight is rubber, and other insulation materials. CCS stations have much longer cables, and often have 2 or 3 cables for different connectors and redundancy.
