None of that " i rehearsed this in my head, and i just spit it over a beat..and you'll hear it on a song that comes out later" shyt NYC rappers made famous.

What is it about you Houston nikkas? Kyleon, Lil Keke,Big Pokey,Z Ro, Big Moe...even dudes like Lil Flip and Riff Raff can freestyle for days.

Houston brehs, explain this shyt.

1st thing that come to ya head..say it...

its crazy to think..these nikkas was doin the shyt for fun..n to shout they hoods n shyt out...none of em thought...they would had thousands to millions of fans..that know their flows...bar 4 bar...

these nikkas didnt think it was gone make it outside screw house...but it went across the map..

nikkas like keyshawn johnson...shaq..too short snoop n others comin down to get tapes n shyt...they got their favorite rappers..tripped out when keyshawn said his favorite rapper n album was fat pat throwed in the game

shyt seems like with the slowed down music, and everything being far apart in Houston... nikkas couldn't help but just rap in the ride just to pass the time on the drive.

yeah in a way them tapes was made for trips..

kuz majority of the suc was playas n dealers..

so they would be on road trips all the time...

crawfish festivals

hbcu classic football games.. gramblin vs pv.. pv vs southern

kappa's

anything goin on in austin..

etc

u will run out of gas be4 u flip ya tape over...

whenever pokey get called up by nfl teams...he would have a tape...to go work out on...

And I'm glad you mentioned that it ain't that memorize a 16 and call it a freestyle shyt.

Thats all I listened to for about 4 years, cats from other places used to front on H-town cats cause they didn't get deep lyrical. I'm like don't realize these boys are going off the dome and not just a 16, I'm talking for like 5 mins straight.

basically if you grew up in texas, when you get throwed you ride around with ya friends just freestyling, shyt was just part of life back then

I miss that shyt :to:

Lil Flip Freestyle From Soldiers United 4 Cash - YouTube

"Got guns, got cannons, shoot like Ed O' Bannon"

:whew:

naw flip, dat aint no freestyle. that was not off the top. nope. i aint believing it. he just has that simple, lazy southern flow. the same flow he kept when he blew up. i mean dont get me wrong. he was doing his thing on that beat. but that was not a freestyle.

the reason texas can freestyle for real when they do it for real is because there beats are slow enough to give you a chance to think of the next thing you want to say. in addition southern folk aint checking for your lyricism. they are checking for a couple of semi clever lines. but more so for street talk.

"got a chevy, got a gun..
hit the gas
we on the run"
^^classic south street wordplay.

its the same reason them bay area mcees starting with Too Short use to freestyle forever. same thing. slower funked up beats. gave you a chance to think of something.
