MADISON COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) Authorities in Madison County are showing absolutely no mercy for a woman who admitted to repeatedly sexually abusing a child and possessing child pornography.

Felicia Mulkey of Madisonville pleaded guilty last month to four charges and received two life sentences with no chance of parole.

The survivor of the crimes was attacked "hundreds of times," according to prosecutors.

"It took a team effort to successfully prosecute this horrendous crime and rescue a little girl," said District Attorney Brian Risinger.

Mulkey pleaded guilty to one count of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, one count of Super Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, and two counts of Possession of Child Pornography.

She was sentenced to the maximum punishment allowed by law on all charges by Judge Hal Ridley in the 278th District Court in Madisonville.

Mulkey's boyfriend, Joseph Farris, is also charged in connection with this case and is awaiting trial.

What is Super Aggravated Assault of a Child
Super Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child is a term prosecutor sometimes use to describe a case of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, in which the normal punishment of 5-99 years imprisonment is “enhanced” to a minimum of 25 years imprisonment. This is one of the most serious felony charges in Texas. This is a relatively new charge for the State of Texas and is intended to protect younger children and to discourage first-time offenders from committing the same crime again. Aggravated Sexual Assault is upgraded to Super Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child when the victim is either under six years of age or if someone previously convicted of Violent Sexual Assault of a victim under the age of fourteen commits the same crime again. This upgrade to Super Aggravated status carries with it more serious penalties, fines, and sex offender registration requirements.

About “Super” Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child
In Texas, “Super” Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child is a First Degree Felony, with an enhanced punishment range. Tex. Pen. Code § 22.021 (f). It carries a potential sentence of 25 years to life imprisonment, plus a $10,000 fine and lifetime registration as a sex offender. A person convicted of the offense and sentenced to prison is ineligible for parole.

The prosecution must prove the complainant was 13 years old or under at the time of the alleged offense.

Super Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child typically involves penetration of the complainant’s sexual organ or anus by any object, penetration of complainant’s mouth by sexual organ, contact between complainant’s mouth and any other sexual organ or anus, or contact between the complainant’s sexual organ or anus and any other sexual organ, anus or mouth.
