over 60% of the state is in favor of recreational legalization, but the way it works down here there's no way for the people to vote for it. we would have to vote in the democrats, but i don't know of any democratic candidates who wouldn't be soft on the border and wouldn't be on a buncha other weird shyt.

i'm sure plenty of republicans are for it, cause we're talking about 50,000 jobs and what has become a multi-billion dollar industry.

call me crazy, but i'm thinking they're working behind the scenes to try and figure out a medical program. right now it's the low thc bullshyt if you have a medical card, but from what i[ve read it seems they're trying to fix the entry barriers so if they do legalize at least medical, the big corps will have a monopoly day 1 in terms of cultivation and distribution.
Gov. Greg Abbott vetoes THC ban, calls for regulation instead

Gov Abbot vetoed the THC ban and told them to come up with stronger regulations. He said it wouldn’t survive a legal challenge because it wouldn’t be aligned with federal law. And they expanded the medical marijuana program a little. We’re inching towards a true medical program, at least, but we need to pick up the fukking pace.

One thing I’d like to see would be a ban on outside entities coming here and setting up shop. I think with the hemp/thca the requirement is that it’s grown here, but I could be mistaken.

If the home market is protected so much money would be made here it would be ridiculous.

This is a 2-part plan.

First - governor Hot Wheels and em want to help the liquor lobby since they pay better. Alcohol can't compete with Delta 9 among Millenials and Gen Z, probably Gen X too. After college, folks don't drink like crazy anymore outside of craft brewery shyt.

Second - they want to shut weed down because there are too many independent shops. Hell here in Dallas, I can order Delta 9 anything straight off DoorDash and have that shyt at my house in 30 minutes. Delta 8 is trash but some good D9 edibles hit the spot.

Once they shut all the shops down.....then they're going to create A LOT of barriers to entry, red tape, regulations etc. That pushes out the small guys, so only big money will be able to get into the game. Big money investors have the $$$$$ to pay politicians. That's what they want. Limit who can profit and then force them to give up a cut under the table if they want to keep running their biz. If Big Weed doesn't like it, Texas will roll back regulations so the little guys can flood the market. That's the threat. If Big Weed pays up, Texas GOP will keep the cost of entry high....artificially limiting competition.

Hemp lobby down here is finna fight this shyt hard. Doesn't go into effect until September. Gonna be a bunch of legal challenges. Difficult to justify alcohol and cigs but then not allow weed after previously allowing it.
Good point about the independents. Nikkas came up too fast. In Houston you got shops all over

Smartest news I heard all day

Like we said, it was because THC related drinks were whipping Alcohols ass.

There have been votes and petitions in Texases more liberal areas.
