Some coaches ban their players from using social media, but Texas Tech football Coach Kliff Kingsbury isn’t so strict. At only 36, he’s not a great deal older than the players themselves, so he realizes the importance social media plays in their lives.
Instead, he has staff members gin up fake accounts using pictures of good-looking girls to spy on his players.
Kingsbury freely admitted this on a recent episode of “The Hawkcast” with former NFL player A.J. Hawk, as transcribed by CoachingSearch.com:
“We have fake accounts with cute girls that they add right now, so we can see what’s going on and who’s tweeting what,” he said. “Those are heavily monitored, for sure.”
Do the players know?
“I think they do, but they can’t resist that,” Kingsbury said, laughing. “A friend request from a cute girl is an automatic follow.”
