Oh that's definitely true, but ain't nobody for a group of people but they own people. That's why building black businesses is or should be such an important goal in the communities. Not really they fault kuz just like they talk about us, we shyt on them. Sure I'm mad it too, but i can't do nothing but strive for some level of success to be able to do the same thing for me and mine

Approaching the end of 2021, Rebecca Brown had a tough choice to make: Either renew a lease at her Carrollton apartment complex, which wanted $346 more a month in rent, or leave the area where she’d lived for five years.
When Brown reached out to her leasing office, she was told the rent increase couldn’t be negotiated. Her two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment’s rent would jump from $1,443 to $1,789. For Brown, the new price would be a struggle to afford.
“It stressed me out immediately because, I mean, that’s a huge jump,” Brown said. “That’s [about] $400. To try to come up with an extra $400 a month, that’s not that easy to do.”
Brown, a 37-year-old tax analyst, is far from alone. Across the state and country, a combination of social, economic and political forces are driving more people to look for rental housing but limiting the construction of units. That imbalance between supply and demand pushes rents upward, putting tenants in financial binds. And in Texas — where laws favor landlords, and rent control is virtually nonexistent — tenants are left to either take on additional jobs, cut other household costs or move out of the communities they prefer.
“I could have afforded the increase, but it just would’ve made the budget tighter,” Brown said. “So I was like, I have to start thinking about what my options are here.”

Texas especially with the growth of the DFW is becoming just like cali without cali pay and benefits. The southern affordable states are going to suffer the most with the next recession.

the ONLY benefit of living in the DFW is the lack of state income tax. other than that, there's no advantage IMO.
This is what I don’t understand about this Austin phenomenon. You charging what LA and San Fran charging but can’t offer half the shyt they offer, no beach, no mountains, no scenic views, no oceans, no world class dining, no non stop world class entertainment, no professional sports teams. I just don’t get it. Sure Austin has music festivals but damn near every major tour runs through Dallas then houston, then out of Texas.
Not even that but this is true as well. I'm talking about the regular joes in the city that still make for the most part 7 75 10 hr when places like Dallas and Austin charging LA premiums now. It used make sense back in the day before of the cheap housing but with all the high ass property tax and normal people not making decent money is a recipe for disaster.
lotta folks keeping west coast salary (until they get caught) and going to Austin. If it wasn't for hurricanes I would be looking at Houston myself lol

We've been down that road before. But this an instance where they need to step in with some caps tho. Can't just be forcing folks to pay 400 dollars more for the same place they lived in the month prior.
