There is no dishonesty. The segue exists because the two points are intrinsically connected.
The unfortunate reality is that you have people who look to measure someone's blackness by how much they have struggled in life. Those people are found are here. Where someone lives will contribute towards how much they struggle in life. Ergo when you start acting as though someone isn't a real one because they grew up in the suburbs or lived an comfortable life, you are inadvertently saying that one of the requirements for being a real one is growing up in a dysfunctional environment.
