I really don't think it's even a competition.
And h
Hands down the original Tha Carter is just wayne's best body of work but probably his least influential.

Why is that? I've heard rumors that he didn't write those bars. And while Carter 2 and 3 had more impact, I don't think wayne was even at his story telling prime like he was way back then.

Finally someone who agrees. Tha Carter is a complete project from beginning to end. Wayne actually kept a theme going and didn't break it. It had no weak moments.
I agree! Carter 2 is close. It had crazy joints on there. Carter 3 was mainstreamed out but had joints too. I would give carter 2/3 more replay value.

But by no means is the album the carter as an actual album, lacking compared to any of his tapes.

There was no overhyped flows, no jockin, just Wayne skating over beats. There's an incredible balance between beats, flow, lyrics

Easily. It will go down as the ONE album that defines Cash Money IMO. How can it not? It's when people started to look at Lil Wayne seriously.

Last album with Mannie Fresh on production (absolute classic beats from start to finish), and Wayne trying out a fresh style for the first time sounding hungry, just hungry. It is a classic, and his best work. Carter 2, and the unreleased Carter 2 songs with Mannie on the boards is a close second.

Carter 1 has Gillie's influence all over it, for the hearing impaired out there. Study 'Bring it Back", Wayne is using Gillie's flow. People that can pick up on flows naturally will have noticed this from the start.

I agree, it had a theme, largely because of Fresh's consistency with the beats and Wayne still keeping that New Orleans vibe while trying out a new and improved style, at the time there was nothing like it.

All in all, his best work. Deserves to be rated as a classic IMO
