I can't believe this has been over 10 years ago though now. :mindblown:

Em gave us classics, brehs.

The Slim Shady LP, The Marshall Mathers LP, The Eminem Show and the 8 Mile soundtrack :blessed:

And he released a good movie :wow:

I wasn't really into Eminem's music like that from '99-'01. I liked "The Way I Am" though. It wasn't until '02 listening to Eminem Show that I started to hear what people liked about him. Then he dropped "Lose Yourself" and his other solo songs on the soundtrack were just as crazy, then I started listening. In '02, those diss tracks towards Benzino were dope too.

Yeah, I hear that.

I'd been hearing his freestyles on different mixtapes cats around my way had but freestyles are only cool just for the wittiness, they don't hold weight like actual songs of albums do in my opinion.

The Slim Shady LP didn't win me over but The Marshall Mathers LP did. I remember my cousin having that joint, bumping it loud as hell in his Thunderbird. :win:

I'm not a huge Em fan along with many on this board but it'd be silly as a hip hop fan not to give him his props during the height of his career. With that said he isn't a top 15 hip hop artist of all time in my book, let alone top 5. Sure the sales are there but it takes more than a bunch of white people buying your albums for me to rank someone that high on my list.

his albums as a whole don't have much replay value IMO and aren't classics but he has a lot of classic & dope songs which can make a mean playlist.

didn't start checking for em till like 8 years after he fell off but i did have the em show bootleg & a rapper will probably never ever be as big as he was in his prime, he was elvis status, then he was elvis status :flabbynsick:

Eminem - I Remember Lyrics - YouTube

Is that supposed to be a dope song :skip:

Everytime a nikka links a Em song, it solidifies my reasoning for not fukking with him :heh:

well, I think lose yourself is THE perfect hip hop song, and he did bless us with classic material like stan and the like, but in granting him that you also have to admit that he dropped some really terrible, embarrassing material trying to live up to that frat boy rep, that someone of his talent level should never even thought of releasing. He was wildly inconsistent at a time when he had the whole worlds ear. I think he will forever be an enigma, with hip hop fans wondering what could have been.

A true disappointment.
