I never got the concept of black history month. are the other 11 months white history month?
Well the concept is based on the fact America and other places have went out there way to HIDE black history. So black history month is supposed to be a way to reclaim it. But, they limit you to what you can reclaim. Its rooted in racial supremacy.

The first reply under the Hidden Colors vid says it better than I would have...

Throughout time. White men been creating mythology, and history. In order to create a self image. It's true. When Napoleon and his troops 1st laid eyes on Egypt, and saw that many of the statues looked African. Napoleon told the troops to shoot the Spinx nose off. Tell me why did the Europeans burn down the library in Egypt. That had meticulous record, showing that the Egyptians was real African people of the Nile
Nah mean. These same African statures can be found all over China and South America. Even the American Indians worshiped in a way that can be traced back to AFRICA but I'm certain what I just said is news to the majority of people reading this.
That's why Black History month is necessary, but its also the reason why in its current form its a joke

Im glad you asked us to watch the video before giving your opinion on the commercial. Im gonna give my thoughts then Im gonna read what yall had to say...

The only part that made me chuckle (on some, there they go with the bullshyt) was with the whole "loud" theme. But even with that being said I've seen far more disturbing subtle messages in commercials so this doesn't really alarm me.

My thoughts were...I don't think its dangerous because I don't think this commercial (by itself) will have enough gravity to sway peoples minds one way or another. Its the collective of little messages that do the most damage.

The commerical just opened my eyes to the bigger issue basically. I personally don't find anything WRONG with the commercial by itself
Should that commercial have Fredrick Douglas in it? I'm not saying that
It just made me realize (for reasons unknown) that what is taught as "black history" only goes back so far. Like if we don't have a history outside of 150yrs ago

Black History should be about more than just "We were slaves, and then we became athletes"

If you wanna know MORE about black history? Well how about Louie Armstrong, or Dizzy Gillespie? Thats about as far as they'll teach.
When it comes to "white history" you'll learn about white ppl Pilgrims to the Romans to whatever your hearts desire. Black history?
Sorry guys, but you were only slaves/athletes/musicians.
They don't teach you anything else regarding black history. If I'm wrong, someone please elaborate :manny:

Black History Month - ESPN Video - ESPN

After watching the commercial.. you hear that negro Bomani Jones which sounds like a Blackistoneish type name :obama: (Panky rang)
You see all the greats in sports history. Cool
But then it hit me. YOU KNOW, BLACK HISTORY MONTH NEVER HAS CELEBRATED BLACK HISTORY :what:

See, in America. Black History seems to only go back about 60yrs or so
Then they skip back another hundred years to say "Uh, Fredrick Douglas... underground railroad" Like if BLACK HISTORY isn't the oldest history on the planet.

The ONE THING white ppl will admit to is how they stripped slaves of there history, of everything. So why does Black History Month only go back so far??? :whoo:
If you never get taught REAL BLACK HISTORY all you have is this fake version of it
Its why you see some people say things like "Django was educational" :snoop:
(Thats a real thought process that was discussed in the arcadium)

If you try to learn REAL BLACK HISTORY you get hit with :stopitslime:
But if you make up some bullshyt like say.. Kwanza? White ppl will be like ":smugbiden: Thats cool nikka" and it was even taught when I was in school
Kwanza :russ:

If people are REALLY serious about BLACK HISTORY then part 1 and possibly part 2 of THIS should be mandatory viewing material
Hidden Colors 2-Dr. Runoko Rashidi (Behind the scenes footage) - YouTube

Now talk that shyt haters/c00ns/cac ass goons & the samuel jackson type nikkaz with the silver spoons

You threw me off with the OP because I was focusing solely on the commercial. I thought that was what we were critiquing.

But you are 1,000% right and i've been saying this after I finished school and stumbled upon TRUE black history. We learned about different European empires, revolutionaries but absolutely nothing about Africa...literally the word Africa was not even brought up (unless they were talking about slavery).

Speaking of slavery, why were we taught about the Haitian revolution. When I first heard about that (as a grown man :snoop:) I was in awe. Its unbelievable what they don't teach us in school.

Note: The reason why nikkas looked at your username and didn't want to take the thread seriously is because if Im not mistaken you troll here so people were thinking that this could have been a troll thread. But salute for your thread tho. Good shyt.

The reasons are well known...

They know that black people are receiving the short end of the stick and if were to learn their history they would no longer be easily pacified. Black people would be more self sufficient and be a community that DEMANDEDtheir respect and a community that will create a higher standard of living across the board.

If Blacks (worldwide) got like China and stopped fukking with people outside the community, Africa would be the leading nation in the world. Africa has the natural resources and everything else necessary to build a strong nation.

We were weakened by accepting the false ideology of black inferiority so we DECIDE not to work together and build a nation amongst ourselves. We go out our way to run to white people (or anyone else) because we believe 'black = bad' and 'white = right' and when we run to white people, naturally the white people aren't going to have our best interests in mind (nor should they, we are not their responsibility) so we will continue to get the short end of the stick.

If black people knew their REAL history we would not believe in the false idea of black inferiority because it would be a contradiction. Black people have done so much to contribute to humanity (medicine, science, mathematics, ect.) so if someone were to say black people are inferior nobody would believe it. If we no longer believe in black inferiority, we will no longer run outside the community to build, which would mean we would build amongst ourselves and as I mentioned we already have the tools necessary. After we build we will be a force to be reckoned with.

Dog...the Haitian slaves had a revolt against France and WON THEIR freedom.

The Haitian revolution wasn't the only slave rebellion. There was a bunch of others, most notably "Nate Turner" he had a slave rebellion here in America.

They say Lincoln freed the slaves but it was economic reasons plus the fact that black people were putting in work and they wanted to stop the blood shed.

Check this documentary out...

Haitian revolution is one of the greatest missed opportunities in modern times.
Not only did them negros betrayed Toussaint Louverture to the French but them same niccas plotted and killed the first black ruler of the country. The French respected Toussaint Louverture more than the Haitians did :snoop:
These niccas have had over 200 years yet they didn't do anything with it.

As for Black History Month, i dont know why there's a month dedicated to black history in the first place. Why not celebrate important black figures in american history the same way we do Washington and the likes?? :why: Its like these ppl reinforce people's differences every chance they get and they wonder why racism is still going on strong.

Very true. It is done intentionally.

As far as the Haitians having over 200 years, theres a couple things that need to be mentioned. After they won their freedom they forced to pay France reparations...Can you believe that shyt. THEY were enslaved yet they were forced to pay FRANC reparations...:aicmon:

I even heard of them salting the land in Haiti so that they couldn't grow crops and produce money for the country. (I'm not 100% sure about this fact tho because I never found anything when I looked it up.)

Do you know why they did nothing? Or why the French respected Toussaint?
Just asking, I don't know either. I'm about to peep that video homey posted after I eat...
