Any time any wrestler walks away from the business, wrestling fans get upset & start burying the guy for "going into business for himself." Doesn't matter whether they had creative differences, frustrated with their situation or just sought out greener pastures. Happened to all of them...

Austin
Rock
Brock Lesnar
Batista
CM Punk

Neckbeards want all of these dudes to end up crippled and ending their careers in the ring instead of walking away :unimpressed:

Brand loyalty is stupid.

The WWE did a good job of painting Austin as a selfish POS. They pretty much made it into Steve doesn’t care about the fans that made him, and he’s turning his back on them. Vince even had JR go out and bury him on Confidential.

The WWE machine has always done a good job of demonizing people that leave on bad terms.

Brock had the juice.

If the rock & hogan can do it then obviously he could of done it too & he looks back on that with regret.

Austin was feeling insecure & paranoid about his spot on the hierarchy.

Remember when he was showing up on Raw with his face all bruised and beat up? in 03' :heh:

I think he told Triple H in a promo that he slipped on a bar of soap :dead: Didn't he get in a roid rage drunken car accident or some shyt?

I think he was on roids and or pills heavy post summer walk out. He always referres to him "burnt out and running fast" when speaking on that time on his podcast.

Austin was on that Unscripted show on wwe.com pissed about being low on the WM 18 card after being in the main event last year. He bashed that program with Flair and Big Show he was doing too...he didn't like not being the ultra main guy. Just started the angle with Eddie before he walked out..

Austin kinda sucked in ‘02. I say this as someone who has him as a top 5 wrestling GOAT. Dude’s act got stale and he was no longer capable of putting on good matches

Austin was insecure, but Austin jobbing to Lesnar clean in an unannounced match on RAW was absolutely stupid then and still is stupid today.

This reminds me of when I checked the channel guide May 2002 and it said “WWE Smackdown” and I was like “what the fukk is WWE?” :laff: Then it’s Vince and The Rock saying Austin “took his ball and went home” and Rock had the “Get The F Out” shirt and they both kept saying “get the F out” man I had no idea what was going on :russ::russ:I had zero clue about Austin walking out and his reasoning nor the WWF getting sued by The Pandas. Little did I know that would entirely change the history of wrestling. What was it, like 9 years of the WWF scratch logo being blurred on DVDs:hhh:???

Such a weird time in WWE history

They had more talent, from different eras, different types all still over and they were kinda struggling with how manage them all, thus not making them over.

Imagine having Hogan, Austin, Rock, Flair, Hardys, Taker, Angle, Guerro, Triple H, Booker T, Rey Mysterio Jr Dudley Boyz, Jericho, Shawn Michaels, Hall/Nash. Mr Perfect, Big Bossman, Edge and Christan, DDP, Cena, Lesnar, Orton, Batista, Steiner, Big Show, Benoit, Trish, Lita, Victoria

And ratings actually dropping with 2 shows. It was all on how they used them
