3 lost to teams that didn’t play in the playoffs last year, and the other lost to a team they eliminated in the first round.


Not saying last years champion deserves an asterisk, or that those teams deserve a pass this year. I just find it intriguing.

None of the 4 teams that went the deepest in the playoffs in 2019 went deep in the playoffs in 2020 (1 didn't make the playoffs, one got knocked out in the first round). 2 of those teams didn't make the playoffs in 2021 and one of them got knocked out in the first round in 2021.
