Lettuce all be honest right now, the 90's were definitely the worst era for rap.
in the 80s it was fresh, and forward thinking, and punk rock for nikkas
the 00s brought updated sounds, quality raps that were also popular, and the first truly banging beats
and the 10's have pretty much upgraded on the 00s, but added weirdness and broken down the barriers that 90s heads built up to try and keep hiphop dusty and "deep".
90s had nothing but guys shooting each other over nothing. 90s rap beefs were even boring, nowadays we have dudes beating each other up on worldstar, 17 year olds killing each other in chicago over rap beef, and having every beef publicized over twitter. we get front row seats to this shyt now.
the 90s raps were zzzquil, rappers like nas spitting about the streets from their bedroom window, wu tang shyt talking about ninjas and nerdy shyt (but not entertaining like say...future karate chopping bricks), and if anyone ever says they have a rap song from the 90s that bangs
lets all just try to ignore try to forget the 90s (and all the rappers that emulate those years nowadays).
