"they are taking a form software that honestly has no obvious benefits at least in this point in time, AI generally. you and I agree it's utility is vastly over-hyped ... "
:what:

so chatgpt.com itself became the 13th most visited site in the world last year for a product that debuted 3 years ago.
this guy has no imagination or they aren't paying attention to users if they claim it's utility is over-hyped.

ChatGPT is now the 6th most visited site in the world!

Surpassed Instagram,TikTok & Wikipedia.

AI is becoming the go-to source for answers & content.

Google’s dominance is being challenged in real time.

Search, work, & learning are being redefined.

The future of the internet is shifting—fast!

Money is pouring into AI businesses seeking more capital, fuelling domestic competition. There are more than 4,500 firms developing and selling AI, schools in the capital Beijing are introducing AI courses for primary and secondary students later this year, and universities have increased the number of places available for students studying AI.

"This is an inevitable trend. We will co-exist with AI," said Timmy's mum, Yan Xue. "Children should get to know it as early as possible. We should not reject it."

@sama
the chatgpt launch 26 months ago was one of the craziest viral moments i'd ever seen, and we added one million users in five days.

we added one million users in the last hour.

Wow, congrats! Using Ghibli’s work to train your model and Ghibli’s name to promote it really helped you generate huge revenue! And the fact that you’re planning on paying a big royalty check to Ghibli proves you’re a great guy, too!

Wall Street ain't ready for this...

Coinbase launched Base ~1 year ago

This Layer 2 blockchain has raked in ~$1.2M every week on average

Now Wall Street is FOMOing into crypto.

Front run them by reading Milk Road. 5 minutes. Every day. For free.

Congrats, something that is arguably worse than pre-AI era Google search is now very popular while feeding bullshyt to people. This isn't a good thing.

This shyt is hype and it's largely driven by Elon types arguing that we need AI drones to compete with China militarily. Fine, whatever. But I'd rather fund that inside the government instead of dumping money on private sector companies that haven't done jack shyt to demonstrate the ability to survive without subsidies and VC funding.

Only thing I see is a march towards never ending slop and control. They want IP laws banned so they can keep producing bullshyt entertainment for brain dead consumers. They want the concept of "disinformation/misinformation" erased so people won't differentiate between real things and fake things, and they want it all tied together so they can directly influence human behavior (purchasing products, mental health, political views, etc) like never before.

there will literally be thousands of competing foundational A.I/LLM models and tens of thousands of fine-tuned models. gonna be harder to control people with that much competition in the space.

in fact it'll take more control from google.

I’m like 60% aligned with the argument that the internet was a mistake from the jump. We needed more connections, but less open content and info.
