Christian Picciolini, an ex neo nazi who's making the rounds, maintains that terms like alt-right were intentionally created by the white supremacist movement to make it more palatable to average Americans. His point is that even using those terms are helpful to them

Seemed to make sense.

This is why I just call them Nazis and always say "Yes" when idiots ask if it's okay to punch Nazis. Dealing with fascism is like playing whack-a-mole. They will keep popping up. You have to just keep whacking them.

Fair, I don't know if that achieves anything. But, fair.

Maybe theres another option
Some of these guys, like Picciolini, will listen to reason and lose their ideology. But fascism as a whole, as a collection of political movements, is something that creeps up out of the sewer every now and then and has to be beaten back. When they sense resistance is weak or non-existent, they push the line. When they receive the slightest bit of a bike lock to the head, they run scared. And young susceptible guys see them for the cowards they are and don't join them.

What's your alternative, generally?

I have no idea....wish I did. Just hopeful there is one, I guess.
I know it's generally accepted that better mental health treatment could help reduce mass shootings. Maybe it will help reduce extremist ideologies? I have to imagine a good portion of them are mentally ill.
Maybe lessening income inequality?
Or, maybe there is no solution except to destroy them...I just cant help but think that there would be a similar result as our "war on terror". For every "terrorist" you kill, you create two more...
