it's complicated, i know black QBs are judged harshly, and criticism of mahomes in particular is ridiculous since his O-line was not protecting him adequately and he is a champion who went back to back, but kyler's criticism is right on the money and apparently all other attempts to get him to take the homework seriously werent working. anybody who watches the guy all season long can see that his talent carries him early and as the leaders on the opposing team's defense take over later in the season, he is exposed. he will probably be a better QB now, and this whole thing will be water under the bridge.

and all the pouting and shyt he does needs to be reduced too. his team needs a leader of men.

They should have left it in. Dude needs 4 hours a day of film. I think the league has moments of racism but this one ain’t it. Dude does not take film seriously. You can’t be successful as a QB in this league if you don’t study film.

In the playoffs shyt gets real and it becomes noticeable when dudes aren’t prepared. Raheem Morris had him confused all game in the playoffs last season. If this dumb shyt is what it takes for him to start prepping more then fukk it, it’s for the best.

Nah you're stupid. Historically they shyt on black quarterbacks and this was the beginning of them adding that to future black Qbs contracts. They think black QBs can't read the defense.

They just gave Deshaun Watson -- who honestly has way more personal baggage than somebody who doesn't study film -- 230M fully guaranteed. Where was this, or ANY clause like this?

You think the Ravens, who changed everything they were offensively to maximize Lamar's talents, are going to do that when it's Lamar's turn? No.

They didn't do it to Mahomes. They wouldn't do it to Russell. They aren't going to do it to Fields. They didn't do it to Jameis. They won't do it to Trey Lance.

That's because those people either A: won't be questioned about their committment to the game or B: Wouldn't go for that being in their contract.

I agree that black QBs are held to a different standard, but you can't be willingly blind to the importance of film study and preparation to a QB's success. Film study separates the good from the great. It makes below average/average athletes look like upper-tier players.

The Arizona Cardinals added an independent study clause to the contract of the one QB on public record as saying he doesn't go the extra mile in that regard. They had grounds for the matter. The public shamed them out of expecting their QB to get better after giving him a quarter of a billion. The Cardinals deserve what they get for allowing public opinion to sway any aspect of a 230 million dollar decision, especially after Kyler forced their hand into paying him to start with.

Didn't read all that because i know racism played a part in it. The team admitted it when they took it out.

That is exactly what it is, and the reason that poster and saying he didn't read your post.

Did we see that clause with Watson? Mahomes? Wilson? No.

Not a chance in hell that would be in there for Lamar either.

The clause was put into the contract of a player that pretty much said he doesn't study and has had concerns about his work ethic and attitude since he was in high school. The comments that the anonymous DC's made about Lamar and Mahomes are a separate issue, and has nothing to do with this Kyler Murray contract.
