When it was 2003 i moved alone to the east until then i was just mainstream and street hiphop and all black. When i went to college this white dude a b-boy into the hiphop tags, dance, art everything we connected and we shared music interests. Im all like Mase, mobb, nas, etc and he was like common, talib, mos def, atcq, etc :jbhmm: and i used to think it was wack garbage raps until he decided to make me a mixtape of his favourtie songs. Im telling you :wow: that cassette tape only had flames, and a little jazz at the end of the B-Side that was all so fitting. I bumped that tape non stop smoking and also learning to write new style of raps, that mixtape was the best gift i ever got and on there was this track one of the best on it :

end of 1974, when daddy duke went raw - :wow: (i got inspired by the coli member kologrox doing his thing, and the snow picture just reminded me of those young ol good times.)

whats your best ever gift ? i hope this song i gave yall comes close. its the soundtrack to one of my first adventures at life as an independent man. it was just me me and the music, i thank that dude. i taught him to rap so, its all good.

I absolutely love that type of rap like the one on the Op

Mellow beats, dope samples, lyrics full of content and passionate flows

One of my hobbies is trying to find some old school gems on YouTube

Idk if people will feel the same about the music of today but damn there's a lot of timeless music that was made in the 90s

this slaps :lawd:

This is hard...

a lot of dope local NYC artists/music came out in 95/96 but they got overshadowed by the mainstream acts...I got a lot of them on tapes still from when I’d just sit by the radio on some fri./sat. nites just waiting to record them cuz they wasn’t getting spins like that...flex would have a stretch on his show where once a week he’d play shyt like that...I need to take some time and listen to those cassettes so I can remember some of these tracks and find them online
