... IMO was not balancing the loss of some of the crazy shyt with increased emphasis on the sporting side of it.
Now of course I'm not saying copy ROH or anything like that, but if they wanted to cut out the over the top violence/sex/raunchy shyt, treating it like somewhat of a sport again might have made it an interesting yet kid friendly product.
Like, if they're hyping a ppv main event, instead of every feud coming down to jumping your opponent/personal attacks, how about actually speculating about how they'll match up in the ring? The saying goes "styles make fights", so why don't they actually talk about the wrestler's in-ring styles some more, like how they train, strengths and weaknesses, gameplan for the match etc. Think like HBO 24/7. There's so much more to their styles than just their finishers.
And if they're trying to make us think they've solved their steroid problem, why can't there be a cruiser/junior/light heavyweight belt anymore? Since they're billing more realistic weights, there are plenty of 220 and under dudes that could make and entertaining division.
Oh and I mentioned this in another thread but: cut back on the screwjob endings. The whole rogue faction/crooked authority blatantly cheating to win schtick lost its heat years ago. I understand heels need to cheat; it's one thing to have a heel win by pulling tights/using ropes/low blow, it's another thing entirely to expect people to pay their hard-earned money to see a ppv (especially in this economy), only to have the main event decided by a 3-on-1 beatdown or the ref kicking the challenger in the man zone
