yea its like a complete opposite of the 90s

cuz back then dark skin black women were the standard in media... music videos, tv shows, movies, modeling industry...

but thats cuz naomi campbell and whitney houston blew up in the late 80s...

90s hollywood dark skin black women were more likely to get cast in postive character roles...

fast forward to the 2000s when alicia keys and beyonce blew up... then later rihanna...

now its back to light skin or "exotic" women in demand... like it was in the 80s..

black patriarch broke it all the way down...

Wasn't Halle Berry seen as the pinnacle of black beauty in the 90's ?

You silly for romanticize the 90s :mjlol:

Remember there wasn't nowhere near the amount of biracial and exotics running around back then. Light skinned women were a thing then too. Light dudes was:eat: heavy as well. Dark brehs was just getting the respect they deserve.

Funny how other posters have been preaching the same ish on this site and it’s shutup. Colorism is an ugly dark skinned women problem.

Now it’s oh ya black boys get it too. This isn’t only issue in Hollywood/media/advertising. It extends to society at large.

But I am glad people are talking about this more and not letting the deflections steer them away from this topic.

The coli talks about women BS but operates like a typical women clique.

Thank God for Chrissie on YouTube and BLACK women doing the work behind the scenes to push this issue at the forefront. As well as people being honest about it as admiring it being rampant behind the scenes: Jermaine Dupree, Matthew knowles, it being talked about on We are the Campbells, People blasting it on social media, Amara La Negra, etc...

And you dudes out here who discredited black women for years now complaining about this cause it’s happening to you now can HYON.

I do thank the men out here who knew it was an issue and always advocated for darker skinned women. There’s a few of you, so y’all get your props.

I get what she’s talking about. I think for us black men it’s a little tough to really understand the effects of colorism on darker skinned black women since we don’t control the image or perceptions of defines as beauty.

Now about Hollywood, it’s not going to change anytime soon. The bigger the investment(s) the safer the casting. It’s really messed up.

First paragraph that may be true. But black men are just as guilty and will justify it till the cows come home.

The colorims problem has been a singular fight that black Women have had to fight with very few male allies. Black panther is one of the only films with a black director where black Women were properly casted and that’s because it’s taking place in Africa.

And there is a narrative portray black American women as biracial. As if Gabrielle union types and darker don’t exist in America unless they play a mammy/unattractive/ghetto type character.

yea but it was all bout BALANCE...

light>>> dark attitude wasnt that prevalent in the 90s with casting directors pickin who made it on screen...

the videos break it down wit so many examples...

When they replaced the great aunt Viv with that wack high yella yella..:scust:

This stuff is symbolic. They replaced a no nonsense Black woman with someone completely different to send you field negroes a strong message.

 Guess you missed the memo a few pages back...
