North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
What was once something black people was forced into. Something white people used as a tool to justify the evils of slavery, has now become an institution black americans use as w crutch.

The British perfected the art of using jesus as a tool to colonize and turn indigenous people into mental slaves while they took their land.

When you have third world countries who embrace religion deeply, white people once ruled over them.

Today, there are more black churches in america than any other ethnic group. Most of them are in impoverished neighborhoods.

That's not a coincidence.

Christianity is a form of mental slavery. But it is also mind control, like a drug, that has kept black people to at least some sort of sanity.

Was it a necessary evil or our own undoing?

Once I got old enough to really think about it the idea of an all-powerful, all-loving God that allows an entire group of people to be enslaved was laughable. Religion is one of the more accepted ways to cope with how bleak life can be so I get how people latch on to the idea

I feel like it was needed centuries ago since we didn't have a good understanding of the planet we're on and it kept the general public from wilding out too hard. Faith in a higher power is also a strong tool to keep you going when all feels lost but in the overall context of modern times religion is holding us back from progressing further as a species

I feel you on that.

Christianity kept us going, but now it’s a shyt show. They actively fukked over the Civil Rights movement, contrary to popular belief. They were c00ns who wanted to play respectability politics to get acceptance from the almighty white man.

It’s also a shield for all of the fukked up things white supremacy has done to us as a community. How can you call yourself a true black person, have pride in your essence, and literally worship a white man?

That’s mental slavery to the highest degree. Religion has kept black people docile, that’s a fact. If it weren’t for religion, we would have revolted en masse a long time ago.

On the other hand, actual black organizations that posed a threat to white supremacy were all dismantled and repressed. There’s a reason why black people are allowed to have churches.

I'm a little more sympathetic to religion than I was when I was younger. I can understand how somebody who was born into a lifetime of slavery would want to believe there was something better waiting for them after.

That said, in 2020 religion is reactionary, anti-scientific :trash:
