Can't get mad at them. America big as fukk. Build some new shyt 10 miles down the road
This is what we do in america now and you get terrible traffic, infrastructure that can't be maintained, super fat people because everyone drives everywhere and you force people to get a car which makes their finances and lives more precarious.

Also that ends up just pushing poor people out to the edges of the metro area. Just look at what is happening to black people in the bay area, their commutes are getting insane. Nimbyism ruins lives. Doesn't make sense to just freeze a town in place and not change anything for decades.

No. You're not doing what I'm advocating.

There's absolutely no reason that a town 10 miles down can't me it's own entity.

Don't allow single-family housing over there. Zone it to me a mid density city. It will be self sufficient.

There's a reason where I live is all houses and 5 miles away in Wynwood it's all multifamily. It was zoned like that.

And guess what, they're self sufficient. No need to come to my part of town for anything.

So, what I'm saying is, we know we fukked up with single-family zoning, going forward, make we don't make the same mistake.

I don't really understand the point you are making. I'm saying that we should make the whole country like Minneapolis where they have legalized multi families everywhere.

You are saying we should leave current single family zoning as is but make sure new developments and new towns are open to density?

Yes. That's what I'm saying.

The people that live there have rights. They may not want their areas to become high density, which is fine. But we live in a huge country with plenty of space.

Zoning going forward should be more open like you say.

Well I completely disagree. You have a right to your home and the land under it. You don't have the right to keep your entire part of town frozen in time at the moment you arrived. I respect your opinion, but the Minneapolis model is the best one to reduce inequalities and fight climate change. Building more and more further out just increases our carbon footprint, and makes life more difficult for the poor.

I understand your desires to keep the status quo but it's selfish and counterproductive.
