I am The Wrench in all your plans....
Let me start off saying what i might say, might offend you piss you off, question your place in the coli hierarchy, and that's cool... but I have some serious questions and i got to get it off my chest.
Going into next gen was gonna be a wonderful thing, even if im getting older and growing up. Thinking more about my mortality but i digress. I just want to say if this is the begining of the next generation of consoles and these games I am seriously not impressed.
I'm not a PC gamer, I'm a console gamer tried and true. I remember never beating SMBS3 and playing double dragon on my nes, and spending the whole day over my cousin's house to beat mike tyson's punch out. Then i copped a genesis and the N64 and Playstation 1 and etc, etc....
But as time went on the games, they grew up too, they had oscar caliber, pulitzer prize winning writers behind them shaping a narrative to draw players into their world, immersing themselves into it.
I remember playing the first Metal Gear Solid on PS1, great fukking game, but I also remember the story... which was great too, intrigue, mysticism, war, chaos, conspiracies, and enemies that you never forget. Gears of War. MGS2&3, Halo, Uncharted, God Of War Series...
Games story has come along way. I see alot of arguing in the arcadium saying story doesnt matter?
What the fukk??? Story is the absolute crux of the main character's motivations and reasons why they are fighting. I gave the three stooges that work cause they was going on about titanfall, but they was so blinded by the hype machine they never realized that the game flopped. WHY you ask? No single player campaign story.
And now history repeats itself with the extremely divisive Destiny, made by bungie...
There is a core of gamers out there that appreciate a grand story in a grand universe. We saw what happened with the backlash on the initial mass effect 3 ending. as we can see story matters...
Yeah you might say there's a story behind destiny, but from what i seen in the beta, it's barebones. no one should be required to grind and level up in an MMO/RPG like fashion to unlock the story of the game.
Destiny should have split the game into two parts a disc containing an offline / optional single player story campaign and a 2nd disc with the mmo online world.
Why did they not think there was gonna be a certain segment of gamers that was gonna be unhappy with the way the game turned out, did they not understand why titanfall was flopping?
This idea of online only shooters with no single player campaign should be abolished... The gamers still care about story and lore and set pieces and cast of characters that are amazing.
I WANT THIS MESSAGE TO BE SPREAD ABOUT ON THE INTERNET TO THE DEV'S AND PUBLISHER OF THESE NEXT GEN GAMES, IF YOU INTEND TO MAKE THESE NEW GAMES BE PREPARED TO FACE THE CRITISM AND BACKLASH YOU RECEIVE BY DOING A HALF ASS JOB. MAKE SOMETHING WORTH PLAYING $60 plus online, plus DLC's...
I just want that to get that off my chest, I dont really know what else to say but i am truly disappointed in the way destiny & titanfall turned out... IT's like these dev's truly dont give a fukk about their core audience anymore...
