And the Celtics were the last team they should’ve made the trade with. The Celtics basically gave up a player they didn’t want to play for someone younger and better, a player who can easily be replaced and a pick they didn’t need.

Kyrie Irving is a 26 year old PG with a very serious knee injury who didn’t want to be in Cleveland.

It was better to move him sooner rather than later.
He’s not a bum and he will still have good years ahead of him. But I wouldn’t want to be the team that offers that knee a max contract extension or whatever.

He would undoubtedly have helped the Cavs this year, as Lebron can rely on little outside of the occasional Kevin Love or Kyle Korver hot streak. But he wasn’t the franchise’s saving grace.
