The clear improvement from Snoop's "Da Game Is to Be Sold".... to "No Limit Top Dogg" is like

When a player signs with another team in free agency and they roll with that squad for a yr.

The next album/season the really put the proper producers/players to properly fill out the roster, most suited to the strengths of that rapper.

NLTD is an album that had a few west coast producers on there to give that west coast vibe. It is still my 2nd favorite snoop album.

Don't get me wrong, I still bump his debut album on the tank(even though "woof" is cringe as fukk:snoop:). That 2nd project is just:ahh:

I swore off snoop after dogg father. Still have never fully listened to Da Game. Top dogg was definitely a great comeback

One of the best albums to come out that year

A lot of fans around that time thought Snoop was finished due to Da Game Is To Be Sold Not To Be Told being underwhelming/ass hence why the first week sales for this album were terrible for a Snoop album when he went Gold the first week with the previous album. This was also around the time Cash Money surpassed No Limit completely

G Bedrime Stories being the first single was a terrible choice but I loved the video. bytch Please should have been the first single

It's fair to say Snoop has a unique energy. I would think the more time you spend around him the better you can catch his vibe.

Snoop actually has some heat in the vaults from 1998 after leaving Death Row that would have made for a much better album. Not sure whether P wanted him to first make a No Limit style album (ironically 2 tracks from Da Game are Doggfather leftovers) or he was pressured into it, but there's a lot of fire he could have put out instead of that wack-ass NL debut.

I know I bumped the 1st NL album and really had no problems with it. I was a "TANK Stan" and purchased every album that yr that dropped on NL. I never understood the hate it got. But I can see how more ppl were satisfied with Top Dogg though. It was more west coast sounding but I still say even with the hate "Da Game.." got I still got it as a top 5 all time NL release.

Da Game got some classic highs and some super cringy lows. Top Dogg was definitely a lot more well round and tailored made for Snoop. He still managed to add some more NL style classics as well. It's wild how Down 4 My nikkas went from an afterthought on this album to one of the biggest hits for the label once C used it for a single....then there's Ghetto Symphony :ohlawd:

My favorite joint on here is Buck Em. That beat was perfect for Snoop.
