Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
A lot of young black people like to talk about Clinton and the crime bill and how Bill hurt the black community with it but I just had a convo with an older black man who was in NYC back in those days.

he said all these new age black liberals are full of shyt and aren’t talking from experience. He said the black community back in those days practically begged the government for that bill in which Clinton responded to.

He said the young new crowd of black folks didn’t experience living in the urban cities of the 80s and 90s and are talking from experience in cities that are much calm than what they use to be.

Any older members on the coli that can verify this as truth or an exaggeration?

he's not lying. and you can even take it back to the 80's. black elected officials approved of the crack/cocaine sentencing disparities because of how their constituents (mainly the church goers) on the ground were on them about these crack dealers making their lives hell. people need to realize that black people who vote had different concerns than those that didn't vote.

He’s right.

Black boomers supported that crime bill. That was the generation that hated hip hop and told you to “pull up your pants”. Basically the respectability politics generation.

Young black men are the ones that pain from the come bill. Older black folks didn’t give a fukk.

That’s why the “Hillary called us super predators” line didn’t stick. That’s why Obama called the Baltimore rioters “thugs” and got no pushback.

And that’s why they’re gonna vote for Biden. :yeshrug:

It's True. The bill obviously backfired, but people nowadays will tell you they did it on purpose to hurt black folks even though we called for it.
People also don't give Obama credit for reversing alot of the bill. His Fair Sentencing Act and there one another Act too, but i forget the name.nikka in this thead even claimed Trump reversed it :dead: when Trump is actually trying to rollback Obama's reversal of the crime bill.

I mean, how many times have you heard of "80s crack babies"? The black community was ravaged in the 80s.

He's right. Someone told me the same exact thing last month.

We talk about that "super predator" comment but... :francis:

Back then, stuff was on a whole nother level

Imagine if every major city was like Chiraq. :francis: that might give us a gauge on why the crime bill came about.
