Since this was my first year in a long time, starting off the year on Team Steam, I didn't have to do that much cleaning up from moving my physical library to a digital library. I still did some of it and I'm not done, I don't think I'll have to recreate the heavy lifting that I did last year.
I spent less than I did last year. It's all relative, I know, it's still a stupid amount but more on hardware than I did last year. As I do, I have a grand total of it all on a spreadsheet at the bottom of this post. I had a lot of smaller hard drives so I've dedicated the SSDs to the games that need it and the HDD to both storage and games/multimedia. Been Robocopying my drives and its going to take virtually the entire month of December to move about 40TB of data between multiple drives.
Games:
Switch/PS/Xbox Physical
I didn't even buy Assassin Creed Shadows this year. I've had this paid off since early 2024, way before the delay. Looking at this is crazy to me, but these are the only physical games I've purchased this year.
Switch/PS/Xbox Digital
Hardware
I can't find the box to the Technics AZ100's that I bought.
I posted about them
here, box included.

What were your favorite games?
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
The Legend of Zelda: The Age of Calamity
Sonic Racing: Crossworlds
Cyberpunk 2077
Palworld
What were your disappointments?
Honestly, it was Civilization VII. I got the Founder's Edition. I bought it last year. Firaxis didn't need to change too much from VI. I applaud them for taking thge risk of stepping out, to try something new but they strayed too far from the formula that makes Civilization, Civilization. Looking back at my post from the 2024 version of this, Civ VII was my most anticipated game.
What were your surprises?
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 being as great as it is. I remember seeing it in one of the Xbox showcases from 2024 and I thought it was going to be in line with my tastes. I posted that it was in my top five of games for 2025 back in January
here. That said, I didn't know that they were going to make, objectively, one of the best games ever made. That premise wasn't on anyone's radar. My son's basketball schedule and recording duties for his school team keeps me pretty occupied and away from other hobbies, but I've found time to play the hell out of this game this year. I still need to get back to it to play the free update stuff.
I did pick up Assassin's Creed Shadows from GameStop but in 2025, I didn't spend a dime there. I would have to go back to high school to replicate that fact for me. I did get some gift cards for Christmas there so I'll spend something in 2026, but it'll likely just be that one thing.
Did you take on any new genres?
I pretty much play everything now. Roguelikes and Survival/Crafting were the last holdouts in relation to genres but like I said, I play everything now.
Did some genres pass you by?
Nothing in 2025
What are you looking forward to next year?
Darksiders 4
Fable
Clockwork Revolution
Avatar Legends
The grand total for the damage of 2025
