I pitched the idea before but no takers. Might have been because I wanted to watch a sci-fi movie

NC-17 Erotic Art pieces

That’s my bad, Deep Throat was a legendary and award winning blockbuster that broke many records at the time

Don’t leave...... just give this club one chance:feedme:
Let’s throw some Gaspar Noé films in the mix while we’re at it. :mjlit:

Something where a group of folks agree to watch a movie by a certain date, and then submit reviews of the film?

I was kinda interested in doing this :jbhmm:
Yup. We did it yeeeeears ago. I forget the last person to suggest a movie but we definitely did a few. I know we did Clue, a Scream movie, and at least one other flick.

It was pretty easy tho. People took turns suggesting flicks. People watched them and talked about them. If you didn’t want to watch it then you didn’t fukk with it that week. You catch it the next week.

There’s never going to be straight up consensus on what we all want to watch, but letting one person pick and then having people participate or not alleviates a lot of headaches herding cats.

I think the best way to both frame the group, and find the correct posters to be a part of it, is to decide why we're watching these movies in the first place.

For example, if we're watching these movies to appreciate cinematic history and to explore the craft of moviemaking, that's something I can respect. But still, for me, it's not really interesting to talk about.

On the other hand, if we're watching movies to explore social commentary, consider the characters' interpersonal relationships, or theorize about both in-universe and real-world perspectives and ramifications, count me in—I nerd out to shyt like that.

Just my 2¢
