i've had my rig for a couple years now.
i have:
an i5 3570k
gtx 760
8gb of ddr3 ram 1866mhz
i had 16gb or ram but i started getting frequent crashes, turned out that one of my ram sticks went bad.
a year later the same thing happened...frequent crashes so i tested the ram and found the bad one.
now i'm getting random crashes while gaming, sometimes i game for hours without a crash and sometimes it will crash after a few minutes.
what do you think?
Power supply or its not in enough rice.
i've got a 700 watt cooler master and my rig is not turning off.
btw, you know i got that rice on deck.
lol. Hmm well when window crashes it creates a dump log. I'm rusty as hell with this, but you can look into the tool WinDbg - https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/hh852365.aspx
I haven't used this in years, but basically I was always able to pinpoint what caused the crash and 90% of the time it was either faulty hardware or more likely a corrupt driver. It should show you up to the last thing that was running before the crash.
Another good site is - https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb545021.aspx I use to use these tools at work all the time.
Edit: the other times it was a virus.
