As far as I am personally concerned, evolving past the notion of being a "nikka" is fundamental to elevating holistically. I don't care if you're running wild in the streets, a community activist, or a PhD. If use it carelessly, I side eye you and take you a lot less seriously-- without bias. This is something I've said before, but the word has 400 years of violence and death of OUR PEOPLE behind it... You could be 40 years old and it still has 10x as much time indoctrinating on whatever people think they're 'reversing'. And you hear it all the time if you're listening.

We don't live in El Salvador to know the lay of the land or their culture. Either way I question how real those stats are.
In my younger days I was an activist around criminal justice reform. This was before Michael Brown. You do realize that incarceration rates spiked around 400% in 30 years right? How much more do you think is required to 'fix' things?
