North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
I preface this by saying I support it.

Advocates for it though need to look at the inevitable problems and come up with solutions before it will ever be taken seriously.

The obvious one is cost. There are various solutions to attack it and since it's the most talked about con, I'm going to skip it.

1. Fraudulent claims by doctors. There would be millions in invoices for treatments that never happen and the government will get got. This happens all the time with the department of defense and treasury. So until systems are in place to eliminate the possibility in those industries, the thought of it happening again in a new department just isn't worth the headache.

2. Capacity. The reason why our healthcare is so great is because of access to it. And that access is great because millions either dont go because they dont have insurance or they simply get the symptoms treated and send on their way. This pandemic exposes what happens when more people seek medical treatment. The good news is there would be to boom in medical jobs.

Realistically, none of it will happen until this country is willing to let go of the bloated defense spending. Entitlement programs take up the bulk, but it's also managed. The government would have to change how it manages everything. The wheel would have to be reinvented basically. AMD becasue its stuck in its ways, that shyt isn't going to happen for decades.

Pragmatism = too lazy and/or unwilling to evolve.

Sure, People have "access" but then they'll get bills for which they cannot afford.

Studies have been done and there won't be an overutilization of healhcare if we had a universal single payer system. We've discussed this on here a lot. It's just not true.

We do have a problem in that there are not enough doctors in this country. We also do not have enough hospitals. And we have monopolization of hospitals and other things in the medical supply chain.

You forgot to mention a huge issue. How does the health care system take care of illegal immigrants or dreamers or whatever else you want to call them? Ofcourse the answer is they won't be covered. But will the progressive agenda allow this?

I'd suggest the German model but in order to keep costs down. The government would have to regulate fast food and candy industry with an iron fist.

There's no fixing it. Too much greed from insurance companies. Too much burocracia. Too much lack of discipline from the citizenry.

Undocumented migrants are not entitled to free medical care in Germany because they are not insured... progressives here can't stomach that.

I wonder how many more doctors we'd have if we'd have free college...it's almost like all of this is connected.
