Here are a couple of things that bothered me watching the show back in the day:

*Sandra just didn't fit in on the show at all, it always felt like she was forced on us "the viewers", she looked like she wasn't part of the family. (I wish Whitney Houston had accepted that spot as the lead after auditioning but had to focus on her music career).*

*I also hated how they made sandra's hubby elvin a "big p*ssy/simp/wuss", that shyt always used to make me uncomfortable for some reason. I cringed anytime he was on screen, everybody shytted on him especially claire huxtable, she pretty much treated him like a naive little boy.*

*They also made Denise some kind of boring, lazy hipster or something, I don't think this was really big in the black community back then, so it was either amazing foresight to the future or probably that was actually her personality in real life.*

*Cosby should have never gotten rid of "Cockroach" (Carl Anthony Payne's character), he brought a lot of laughs and good chemistry with Theo on the show.*

*I also hated the weird awkwardness of Vanessa's fiance dabnis, the huxtable's treated him like a dummy.*

*I finally got completely fed up and stopped watching the show when all the kids got older and they added allen payne, erika alexander and that loud ass broad malina.*

Cosby show was a great look for a black family on TV. My only issues with it is they never seemed to have any struggles or anything to imply that shyt wasn't always sweet for them before or after the money came and none of the kids ever did anything troublesome, it was always one of their friends fukking up.

Elvin was such a bytch that he changed his name to Huxtable :scust:

The later seasons with all the extra characters was when I stopped watching.

Lookin back, show was unrealistic as fukk

:mjpls:

The cosby show was very weird but a lot of people love avoiding talking about this because it shows black people in a bougie class mode.

If you put a black excellence family on TV this is the first thing people say

You put a family of people shuckin n jivin on TV and people complain

Can't please everybody

The kid's had problems but they weren't issues that most people talk about in public like theo's dyslexia. The reason why they didn't put all those struggles was just to put the black community in check not to air their dirty laundry in public.

I remember an episode where the family attended a funeral and they didn't even act like it was a funeral, I guess they had to treat everything with kid's gloves because the show was kind of an experiment in my opinion.

read a story bout the u.s. attorney general early this morning and surfed up this family pic. peeps really were 'moving on up' in this country so the show wasn't really too far from reality. one of her brothers was a navy seal.

Outside of Vanessa getting drunk. The kids never had problems. Theo's friends smoked weed but Theo didn't, Denise's friend was fukking around and got pregnant but, etc. The kids always knew someone in trouble but they themselves never had been in real trouble.
