How’s the job market for you guys?

I just got a Tech support job after a month of really trying to get one. I wanted a helpdesk role like I had before, but I gotta take what I can get at this point. They said we can apply to other roles after 6 months tho :ehh:

Out of 100 + applications, I had 4 interviews, one of them I fvcked up, the other disqualified me because I wasn’t vaxxed, one never called me back after having 2 good interviews, and the other hired me.

Speaking with a couple of the other new hires, they said they had similar issues.

What’s it like out there for you, and what field are you in? How much experience do you have?

I'm not in the job market but I can speak for myself.

Controller of a healthcare company.
MBA in healthcare management
Bachelor's in accounting and marketing

I'm being groomed to be CFO when current one retires in 2 years. I'm a decade plus in the field. I did just put up a senior accountant position due to the current one taking a job in California recently and I need a replacement.

Is your resume wack? I don't know what ultimately constitutes a good resume, but I can spot a bad one a mile away. It's all about just getting to the interview and conducting yourself like a normal person that understands the job at hand.

It’s so fukking hard man. I’m a recent graduate that’s been applying to jobs for 6 months and I’ve been to multiple interviews but nothing works out. I’m dead sick of this shyt man. I’m not sure if it’s me putting my race in because I spoke with another recent graduate that was white and they got hired right after graduation.

I just got a job a consultant with a major company.

I’m finishing my MBA and went through my school’s recruiting program.

I had a ton of action. I had one major auto company ready to fly me to their HQ for interviews and a possible offer.

But, before that I applied to maybe 40-50 positions in the past 2 years without one answer. Go figure.

Regardless, the market is really going to tighten up soon IMO. The musical chairs people been playing since Covid will stop once the recession fears start becoming reality. :francis:

Race and a number of things could be factors. What’s your degree?

MBA is a cheat code in many ways. Removes glass ceilings many times over. In my company, you can only make it to the top of the department with one.

Not gonna lie its been pretty tough. Got out of the military and all of the jobs are a paycut from when i was on active duty. Alot of entry level jobs call back, but higher paying ones seem to not give a damn about military experience.

Im thinking about going back to school

How long you been out of the military? I'm thinking of ETS next year. Any suggestions? How do you financially weather the trainstition phase back into to the civilian world? Or do you suggest just jumping into graduate school or another training program?

I'm in the military and I plan on getting out. I have a bachelor's and ms in finance. And working on ms in technology. What's your suggestion on getting into the controller route? Do you think I should get my CPA? What skills do I need to develop? What type of people are successful in this path?
Because become a financial controller/ executive could be my pathway to becoming a multi-billion industrialist.

I’ve applied to close to 60 jobs this year, and I’ve gotten to 2 recruiter screenings, 1 actual interview (got denied on the third round), 2 interview reach outs that I ended up not doing, and 1 DM inquiry about a role. I work in tech as a contractor, and am currently trying to find a ABP or sourcer/recruiter/HR role at a tech company.

Not gonna lie, shyt is hard out here, everyone looking for jobs, so there’s hella competition, and the big salary jobs want more people with experience (I only got 3.5-4.5 years depending on job)

My resume not bad, but I realized it’s pretty wordy, so I just re-did it. I’ll test out how it does next month.

My resume is decent. I was self employed for a few years, so that was probably an issue.

Being on the management side, it will get worse. Lots of job cuts and hiring freezes along with the pending recession means companies have more leverage now than compared to last year.
