Wow this is a GREAT thread! I always thought wildly about the fact that
These celebrities making millions can suddenly go broke in a few years
Like how can you blow your money like that? I never thought about that
Aspect of it- Getting used to the lifestyle and financial freedom.

When I allegedly stopped hustling, switching the paste of how fast you
Throwing the money out is one of THE most challenging things I ever
Experienced. Downgrading your lifestyle of going out to eat every night,
Buying whatever clothes you want, taking trips, etc. -- to just STOP doing
All that is VERY hard. I wasn't able to do it..I ran into debt and within a
Couple months allegedly went back to the quick money. But I'm trying to
Get out this game man. Living a legit lifestyle is better in every fukking aspect

"shyt is very scressful, manee" - Gucci Mane

With there being less money out there a lot of established artists are also taking more control of their own music so they can reap the full financial benefits of what they're doing. That's also causing drying the well up for a lot of these cats.

When Damon Albarn self produced an entire Gorillaz album on his iPad and put it on iTunes that should have told you something about where we were at in the industry

It's an interesting OP, but with the way that we listen to & have access to music, this can be a golden age for music producers & engineers savvy enough to see the changes in the industry and capitalize off of it.

If you're working off of a 90's model for making music in 2013, yea you probably won't make alotta money or be around very long. You've got to be innovative to stay ahead of the industry trends

Its kind of a paradox...i love the fact that music is more accessible to anyone who makes or wants to listen to it...but i think this has down graded the quality of music severely.

I'll be honest, i was one of them cats in 02 that had a bootlegg fruityloops and started making dozens of shytty beats. I quickly upgraded to an mpc, and an rs7000...and i really started grinding to make it in the industry...went as far as working for a radio station, had a few connects to some magazines, and linking up with a few producers and artists locally, and trying to push my homies...didnt really have the talent to make it, but i also became disenchanted with the whole process...the allure wasnt there anymore so that killed my whole drive. The industry is definitely smoke and mirrors, but atleast there was talent and originality behind the facade.

I remember watching a documentary on the whole movement devante, missy, timbaland had going on anx they would record and practice for days, months, years on end perfecting their shyt...you dont have that anymore...

Even kanye on his 5 beats a day for 3 summers shyt...

You dont have people doing that because everything is so accessible, you can download a dre or timb sample pack and sound like them in 5 minutes...those cats had to work for years to sound like that. Now very producer is a hi hat triplet difference of the producer who was hot before him. You dont have to spend years learning to sing because you can just harmonize and autotune will do the work for u.

Shyt they sign these singers who are young as hell and one dimensional as fukk because of it.

Shyt is wack now.
