Martin Luther King Jr.'s mother, Alberta Williams King, was tragically shot and killed on June 30, 1974, while attending church in Atlanta, Georgia. She was assassinated by a gunman during a church service at Ebenezer Baptist Church, where Martin Luther King Jr. had served as a pastor. Martin Luther King Jr.'s brother, Alfred Daniel Williams King, died under mysterious circumstances. He was found dead in his swimming pool on July 21, 1969. The cause of death was officially ruled as accidental drowning, but there have been persistent doubts and conspiracy theories surrounding the circumstances of his death.
