The problem is Puff’s defense didn’t bother setting any of that up on cross. They didnt bother to mention the money was returned or plant a seed saying “it was a business expense”. They just left the jury with the image of Cassie’s mom saying she paid the 20k because they felt threatened by Puff.

I agree the defense should have hammered down on this more cause its open ended as a lot of this case has been so far. With regard to landlords and creditors I 100% believe if you owed someone thousands of dollars they would use whatever leverage they have against you to get their money back 99% of the time.
