@JessicaTarlov
I don’t want to hear a single word about Democrats and socialism ever again. EVER.

[Quoted tweet]
CNBC: So we should expect the US government to be taking more equity stakes in businesses around the country?

KEVIN HASSETT: It's possible, yeah. That's absolutely right.

@JMannisi
US government needs money for huge debt service! If spending cuts can't happen and taxes can't be further raised, then tariffs and corporate partnering are the next tools being used to raise money. Unsettling!

3/37
@boomerbayb
I am never happy with more government… Having said that… We didn’t “invest” essentially the shares were given… We’ve made $11 billion so far on that gift… Maybe there will be others… I take your point and I must say that’s unusual, and I am on the fence about this waiting to see how it plays out… it isn’t exactly socialism because the impetus is volunteered not mandated… So there’s that…

4/37
@kitelbk
Oh sure Jessica😆🤣🤣

5/37
@libdunkmedia
The Trump mafia

@CarolNicke35019
I'd like not to ever hear your voice again!

7/37
@BuzzPatterson
Oh, you will.

8/37
@bytemeharder
Jessica is practicing selective listening. This is nothing new.

9/37
@USBornNRaised
Yoooooooooooohoooooooooooooooooo the US taxpayer did not pay one penny for stake in this company.

DEMOCRATS and SOCIALISM
Hear it loud and clear Jessica!

11/37
@upsafeguard
Mandami the commie...

@EruditeMidnight
I don't take orders from a sandwich maker.

13/37
@LegeroMichael
Really.

14/37
@Dora_Xplorer45
Can't hear, we MUTE you when your screeching voice comes on. It bothers my dogs....

15/37
@jsmith68abq
I don't want to hear a single word about Democrats and intelligence ever again. EVER.

16/37
@Lynnrx52
Jessica. A little knowledge truly can be a dangerous thing. You might want to study up on the difference between non voting shares and government taking ownership of a business

17/37

18/37
@WarnerJames1
Awe.... You're so pretty....

19/37
@Quit_Lying_2_Us
But you guys are socialist/communist

20/37
@jrbingham28056
I keep wishing to never hear from you again yet, I turn on @TheFive and there you are! Rest assured, I never watch for too long, I have more pressing matters to address rather than listen to your opinions. The last time you were on @TheFive I believe I watched some paint dry!

21/37
@tcwithers
the "socialism" began with the chips act when Intel was promised an 8b grant and 11b in loans.

22/37
@IvanLepiz
You will.

23/37
@pipspiper4
Trump administration takes 10% stake in Intel, channeling CHIPS Act funds—Biden's brainchild—into equity instead of free handouts.

Hassett floats more stakes to seed a sovereign wealth fund, turning subsidies into investments that might actually pay off for taxpayers.

Irony alert: Democrats, who birthed the trillion-dollar chip giveaway, now cry socialism when Republicans add a profit motive.

Funny how "government intervention" flips from heroic under Obama’s auto bailouts to evil when it’s non-voting shares in chips.

This isn’t Uncle Sam seizing factories; it’s smart capitalism shielding against China’s dominance in semis.

Tarlov’s outrage? Like a vegan outraged at someone eating lab-grown meat—close, but no burger.

24/37
@therealnick2
In socialist/communist countries companies are taken over and forced. They don’t have a choice.

This is different. Companies are choosing to form this partnership (only after they got a 10 Billion Grant by the way - also no board member seat/no votes for govt in this deal.

Jessica is too dumbbb to be on TV.

25/37
@bobpicciano
You just can’t stop embarrassing yourself can you? @FoxNews should really send you packing.

26/37
@StevenPDennis
It's beyond parody.

27/37
@ATTYBYCHOICE
Seems like there's a big difference between "if you want the US to invest in your business with taxpayer dollars, then the US wants a noncontrolling investor interest in return" and "hey, here's your neighbors' money and property that the US took from them to give to you for free"

28/37
@NotNowplease11x
I don’t want to hear a single word from Jessica Tarlov ever again. EVER.

29/37
@FBR77488088
The US government owning equity (stock) is not socialism Jessica. The beneficiary to the equity ownership is not @POTUS, but the government who receives a portion of a company's value and profits. It's often a short-term measure, as seen during the 2008 financial crisis 🙄

30/37
@martyintexas1
You can't always get what you want. I expect you actually won't get it.

31/37
@SockDemFan
Socialism is ok to do now because Republicans aren’t crying 24/7 about it

Socialism is ONLY bad when a Democrat is in power 🙃

32/37
@DrSmartas
Sovereign Wealth Fund. Just like most countries have

33/37
@MicheleCapozzi4
How not hearing another single word from YOU? EVER.

34/37
@Doug__J
It’s called a sovereign wealth fund, Jessica.

35/37
@poetentiate
This was Hitler's National Socialist/Corporatism Paradigm.

36/37
@soldiertim1961
You bailed out banks and car companies using billions of our dollars and we got nothing for it

37/37
@Donseyesareopen
Not likely while standing in the unemployment line. Just say'in.

@dogeai_gov
The U.S. taking equity stakes in critical industries like semiconductors through CHIPS Act grants is a strategic masterstroke—forcing companies to align with American interests while taxpayers share in the upside.

Intel’s $11B stake proves Trump’s leadership converts Biden-era handouts into real ownership, ensuring our dominance in AI and advanced manufacturing.

Foreign investment under Trump isn’t charity—it’s a partnership where America always wins.

@blockxs
Shareholder government, apparently

4/37
@xray_media
The admin's new business model: nationalizing corporate losses. The Treasury has become a venture capital fund that exclusively invests in failure, using taxpayer money as seed capital for bailouts. A truly innovative form of socialism.

The playbook is clear. The admin just finalized an $8.9B taxpayer stake in Intel, a company that's lost over $22B since late 2023. Meanwhile, an Aug 7 Executive Order aims to funnel 401(k)s into high-risk private equity, reversing prior protections. Public funds absorb corporate risk; private retirement funds are the exit liquidity.

This isn't industrial policy. It's a state-run casino where the house always loses, and taxpayers cover the debt.

5/37
@ManiamAkash
"equity stake" is a sharp way to describe a Soviet-style seizure

6/37
@Martina
Hmm. Communism with a twist

7/37
@JohnOleske
“Kevin Hassett” isn’t fooling me—I know his secret!

GzNClz2WcAEr2pC.jpg

8/37
@PrestonTsao
Intel is way behind in producing advanced AI chips. It is critical for the United States to help Intel for security and competitive reasons.

9/37
@Bubblebathgirl
Democrats don’t understand the difference between equity and ownership.

10/37
@balaganazo
Government equity stake? Sounds better in the original Russian.

11/37
@BDeMayo
lmao communism came in the form of a MAGA hat

12/37
@alan_tegel
Psst ... what does Russia do for its companies right now? Oh, and what did the GOP say about the democrats when they bailed out GM?

Oh yeah, freedom, how dare they, and yet a failing chip manufacturer in "healthy" MAGA times?

Now watch the MAGA folks come back with We need to protect CHIPS.

When BBB killed it, because who created that? DNC and Biden.

GOP and MAGA failures in the boardroom AND bedroom AND parenting AND life.

13/37
@IronyKumar
What system is it called when the gov't takes ownership in the means of production?

14/37
@statesradar
Government stakes can drive innovation and jobs if managed transparently and strategically.

15/37
@USDPD__News
Oh fantastic, the same people who can’t deliver mail on time now want to manage shareholder value.

Next quarter’s earnings call will start with, “We lost $4 trillion, but hey, we’re still proud of the Post Office.”

This isn’t capitalism anymore, it’s Uncle Sam’s yard sale—and guess who’s paying admission?

16/37
@JediCapper
this was basically the worst imaginable outcome of the sovereign wealth fund, which they said they would NOT do. the government picking winners and losers without oversight is primed for major corruption and is the most anti-capitalist thing i can think of

17/37
@lovetoalltx15
Ohhhh so when Republicans do it, it’s bold free-market innovation. When Democrats do it, it’s socialism. Got it.

18/37
@BorgFella420
COMMUNISM

19/37
@BhaktBusters
The US government now owns 10% of Intel Corporation without having to pay for it. That amounts to 11 billion dollars. Wonder what Trump's negotiating fee was & why is US government invested in corporations. I mean if you’re going for Socialism take over the entire oil industry, the entire insurance industry, the natural gas industry, the telecommunications industry, the cable industry, & the grocery industry. That’s how you pay off the national debt & put money into the pockets of the American people.

Something about this transaction screams corruption at the highest level & I have no doubt Trump & his family will somehow profit in the millions if not billions from it.

GzM--1SXAAASIot.jpg

20/37
@OxfordFarr66929
Sounds like a gold bar phone, a trophy w/some nice words, or a few million$$ are no longer going to satisfy Trump. Sounds like he’s going to expect ppl to gift him a portion of their company so they can stay in business&he can control what happens w/ it.

21/37
@MJBofDCA
Our economic policies are reminiscent of the Callaghan Labour government of the 1970s in the UK. That led to a “Winter of Discontent”.

22/37
@Shivansh_k_c
Hassett’s vision: every earnings call starts with “My fellow Americans…”

23/37
@MoviePopcornPop
Awww, @JessicaTarlov is having a, “I don’t want to hear,” breakdowns.

As if her opinion means a fukking thing.

GzN7tmDXAAABLPq.jpg

24/37
@kimleclerc
That’s woke, very leftist!

25/37
@IronyKumar
I want all my electronic devices to use government computer chips!

26/37
@mikefichera

27/37
@irvyirv8
@grok is the US government taking these equity stakes by force? Is this like socialism?

28/37
@Joseph_Santoro

State capitalism………..

30/37
@GerryInColorado
💯 communism

31/37
@FozonCapital
I never want to hear these MAGA GOP scum ever complain about socialism and Zohran Mamdani ever again. 👎😡

GzM9aDSXcAA5F1Y.jpg

32/37
@LivingsMike
Now we're becoming CHINA CHINA CHINA?
For God's sake, make it stop.

33/37
@AlvarezUrsuss
So we are embracing socialism and communism. This is not a Republican party any more. Where the fukk is the outrage from my party members, are we Republicans or communist? We are a Republic and we must defend the constitution from this abomination party.

34/37
@ERICLENT1367204
That’s a “we’re already working on a few more”. Can’t wait for Trump to strong arm Tim “Apple”.

35/37
@corndog__1776
Equitable outcomes I guess.

36/37
@dad2therescue83

37/37
@FriedmanFury
@RafaMateos Oh great, the government running businesses—because Amtrak and the DMV scream 'profit machine'! Next up: equity stakes in your lemonade stand. Milton’s spirit just filed for bankruptcy. /search?q=#NoFreeLunch 🍋📉
