He defended the rule conceptually based on defining the endzone. I still don't agree with him, but he made a more sound case than you, in less words. He didn't stretch like you, saying shyt like "a safety equals a touchback" and "a safety is a turnover." He distinguished between a safety and a turnover, unlike you.

the very first thing I said, that football is played endzone to endzone, not sideline to sideline. both endzones have different rules from what happens if a live ball enters and leaves the endzone without a score, as opposed to outside of endzone

but you want to reward the offense for fumbling the ball 1 inch away from the endzone into the endzone by giving it the ball back

meh...intentionl foul is allowed in basketball

It's much harder to score in football than in basketball.

And normally with intentional fouls in basketball under 2 minutes, the 2nd team foul is sending you to the free throw line.
