'"It is hard to imagine any more heinous way of earning money than by benefiting from racism," writes Rick Cohen, who argues that Donald Sterling and the NBA owners are being unjustly enriched by Sterling's racism, which led to the $2 billion sale of the L.A. Clippers to ex-Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, a record-high sum for an NBA team. "Indeed, the only losers in the Sterling affair are the players," adds the NY Times. "What held promise as a possible D-Day in the N.B.A., a day when N.B.A. owners stood up to be counted and voted Donald Sterling out of the league, instead turned into a great day for the status quo." Forbes contributor Robert Wood speculates that if he plays his cards right, Sterling's windfall could be tax-free.'

2 billion isn't a huge deal to sterling. He would've sold the team earlier if the needed the money.
He would rather keep the team.

Yea this whole thing should make us examine our morals and what we value both as individuals and as a society.

If he was a real nikka like George Lucas he would donate all of it

The I in Team
I imagine that since he was a billionaire, having another few billion will more not make his life any better. I think to him the prestige with owning a team, something only 30 people in the world have the ability to do, was a huge ego boost. Now he lost that and his name is synonymous with being a bigoted monster. I don't care how much money you have, as a social being we crave acceptance from others. To lose that acceptance on such a massive scale has to hurt. Plus he's gonna die of old age soon so there's that as well. :manny:
